Donald Trump’s campaign has been spending more than $5 million in Iowa to get its message out on guns and gun control.
The Trump campaign spent nearly $2 million in the Hawkeye State to promote a digital marketing strategy designed to encourage supporters to buy firearms, according to the Des Moines Register.
The campaign also spent nearly two weeks in Iowa on gun safety and gun culture, the Register reported.
Trump and the Trump campaign were expected to spend about $3.6 million in New Hampshire and about $2.7 million in South Carolina.
In all, the campaign spent about $5.4 million in its first two weeks of the 2016 campaign cycle, according the Register.
In a press release, the Trump Victory said that the campaign is “making a concerted effort to reach voters and promote gun ownership, and we are continuing to work with our team to create the best message possible.”
Trump’s campaign also announced that a gun control rally will take place in the state on Thursday.
